Eleven Days and Counting… Will I Win?

The recent SEO contest by the Shouting Zone is coming closer to its end. We have about eleven days to go right now.

The contest wanted the winner to rank in the #1 spot in Google for the search term Blackhat Fish. I entered the contest for the $1000 prize, just to see how well I could do against the pros. Yes, professional SEO people are participating in this contest to rank for the keyword phrase Blackhat Fish.

We are three weeks into this contest and there are about eleven days to go, until the winner is declared. My Blackhat Fish entry located on my Article Marketing Blog is doing pretty well in Google’s search results. With more than 200,000 pages coming up in the search results for the keyword phrase Blackhat Fish in Google, I count myself lucky in that I have steadily resided on page one and page two of the search results. Last night, I held the #7 spot, and this morning I am sitting at #9. Counting Black Hat Fish with Black Hat as two words, I am sitting at #10, competing pretty much with all of the same websites for page one search results for Black Hat Fish.

With eleven days to go, I have pretty much done everything I plan on doing for this SEO contest. I know that I have new inbound links going into place for each of the eleven days yet to come, so my position is strengthening daily for my placement for the target keyword phrase. Although I remain unsure whether I can capture and keep the #1 spot, I am relatively sure that on the last day, I will be sitting at the very least on page one of the search results, after all, I have managed to get articles with the link to my contest entry into at least two articles that have found their way into the SiteProNews website. The first even made its way into the SiteProNews newsletter.

All told, I have three articles with links back to my contest entry. While two of the three (2nd and 3rd) have the target keyword phrase in the article (one link is in the body of the article [2nd], and the other is in the articles’ resource box[3rd]). The third article (1st) actually has the link in the body of the article also, but it is not keyworded to the target term Blackhat Fish. The first article is here, the second is here, and the third can be found here.

Here are some other places I have found these three articles, which support our Blackhat Fish entry:

While not comprehensive, this is a good sized list that shows where these articles have so far been reproduced.

Check back as we get closer to July 5, 2008, to see how we are doing in the competition.
